Materials are important. Not just the steel, but also the wood (or bone, antler, horn, rayskin, silk, cotton) for the handle, the metal of the fittings (steel, sterling silver, copper or brass) and the leather (or copper, or wood) of the sheath, all contribute to the look of the knife: and more importantly, to how it feels in the hand.
Photos just don't do these materials justice, but I hope these pages will give you some sense of what I like to use, and why...
