The sheath is fully-carved from walnut, stained and sanded to accentuate the raven's head and star design. The hand-sewn leather frog sits in a carved notch, and is held by curving lacing. The raven handle is wenge (a nightmare to carve, but with a feathered effect that echoes the theme) with brass pins.
This photo from before the final handle polish, shows the long 1080 blade. This was carved before the differential clay-temper was applied, including inset decoration and carving recalling a raven's 'beard' near the hilt.
